Speakers:

Michael Brakke. Deputy Director of the Office of International Affairs and Trade of the National Office of Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), United States Department of Commerce. He was responsible for international fisheries negotiations at the Office of Marine Conservation of the Department of State. He has a bachelor’s degree in economics from Saint John’s University in Minnesota and a Master’s degree in International Relations and Environmental Policy from Princeton University.

Pilar Proaño. Former Deputy Minister of Fisheries and Aquaculture of Ecuador. International consultant on the Law of the Sea related to living resources. He has master’s degrees in Public International Law, Constitutional Environment and Human Rights.

Graciela Camaño. National Deputy of Argentina. Member of the Commission on Natural Resources and Conservation of the Human Environment. Vice President of the local chapter of the Network of Parliamentarians for Global Action. Lawyer with a postgraduate degree in Environmental Law.

Juan Carlos Sueiro Cabredo. Director of Fisheries of Oceana Peru. Lic. Economy. Expert in coastal and fisheries issues with extensive experience in promoting development from civil associations. Consultant to international organizations (FAO, GEF-UNDP, IRD) and the Presidency of the Council of Ministers of Peru.

Milko Schvartzman. Responsible for the conservation and fisheries program of the Circle of Environmental Policies. He has specialized in illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing. He was a member of the Ocean Campaign of Greenpeace International. He has collaborated on fisheries issues with numerous organizations, including C4ADs, EJF, Global Fishing Watch, PEW Foundation, Oceana, and Interpol.

Fernando Arce Alvarado. Vice President of the Andean Parliament for Peru. Andean Parliamentarian for the period 2021-2026. Degree in Business Administration with a specialization in Public Management and Port Management. He is a representative of the Second Commission on Education, Culture, Science, Information and Communication Technologies, and also of the Special Commission on Indigenous Nations, Peoples and Nationalities and Communities of African Descent.
