Exploring China’s global agenda on spectrum policy and 5G/6G

November 15, 2023 @ 1:00 pm - 2:30 pm

November 15, 2023 | 1:30 pm ET | Online

Please join the Atlantic Council’s Global China Hub on Wednesday, November 15 at 1:30 p.m. ET for a conversation on what’s at stake during this year’s World Radiocommunication Conference.

Beijing is moving aggressively to bolster Chinese companies’ domestic and international advantages in 5G/6G and in advanced technologies more broadly, with significant implications for China’s drive to dominate emerging tech, set norms and standards, and build influence in Global South countries currently investing in digital infrastructure.

As part of this effort, China is pushing to release more spectrum domestically to benefit its 5G/6G network domestically and in third party countries, with implications downstream in a variety of technologies and sectors that rely on advanced wireless connections and will be pushing its agenda hard at the upcoming World Radiocommunication Conference, slated to begin on November 20.

This panel will look at what approach Beijing is likely to take at this year’s event and what the implications are for China to continue growing its share of the global technology market and to export its technology-enabled security state practices. Please RSVP for this virtual panel via the registration box on this page.
