A Conversation with Dr. Carissa Slotterback

January 23, 2023 @ 2:00 pm - 5:00 pm

Jan. 23, 2023, 2:00 PM EST | FIU MARC Building Room 290

Join us for a conversation that highlights the foundational commitments that public affairs researchers and practitioners have toward engaging communities in their work. Meaningful engagement of those impacted by policy can offer essential community-based knowledge that can enhance policy development, implementation, and outcomes. We will explore engagement approaches that can be deployed in public affairs education, in the ways that we conduct research, and in how public affairs practitioners serve others in their work.

Guest Speaker: Dr. Carissa Slotterback is Dean and Professor in the Graduate School of Public and International Affairs at the University of Pittsburgh. She previously served as a faculty member and Associate Dean in the University of Minnesota’s Humphrey School of Public Affairs, as well as led a number of university-wide initiatives focused on interdisciplinary and engaged research and education. She holds a PhD in Urban and Regional Planning from Florida State University and was inducted as a Fellow of the American Institute of Certified Planners in 2018.

Opening Remarks by Dr. Shlomi Dinar, Interim Dean, Steven J. Green School of International and Public Affairs
