Spearheading these efforts is Mexico’s newly confirmed Secretary of Foreign Affairs, Alicia Bárcena Ibarra. Appointed by President Andrés Manuel López Obrador in June, Secretary Bárcena’s rich expertise, particularly her nearly fourteen-year tenure as Executive Secretary of the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) brings a valuable depth of experience to the table.
