Unpacking Gangs and Citizen Security in Haiti

In recent years, Haitian gangs have expanded their reach and influence, significantly impacting the country’s politics and the security of citizens. Our panel of experts will explore the evidence related to the expansion and ramifications of gang influence in Haiti and discuss opportunities for promoting citizen security. Experts will include:

  • Steven Dudley, Co-founder and Co-director, Insight Crime
  • Louis-Henri Mars, Executive Director, Lakou Lape
  • Djems Olivier, PhD
  • Summer Walker, Head of Multilateral Affairs, Global Initiative Against Transnational Organized Crime
  • Moderator: Prisca Duracin, USAID/Haiti

Attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions and engage in a thought-provoking conversation to help improve policy and programming in Haiti. Participants will also be able to share their own evidence and lessons regarding this work to enhance collective knowledge on these complex and important issues.

This event will take place on Zoom and will include English closed captioning (CC) as well as simultaneous English-Kreyol interpretation and materials.
