Securing AI – A Practical Guide for National Security

April 13, 2023 @ 3:00 pm - 4:15 pm

Thursday April 13, 2023 | 3:00 PM EST | In-Person

Join the Intelligence Project for a session with Recanati-Kaplan Fellow Karly Winkler on artificial intelligence (AI) security and the risks it faces from cyber and other malicious attacks. This talk will introduce key types of attacks against AI systems across the AI development chain, such as poisoning, evasion, information inference and degradation/disruption. It will also discuss how to holistically protect systems of national significance, such as future Defense capabilities where there are significant national security and potential threat-to-life risks.

This talk does not require a background in AI or cyber security and will focus on the kinds of problems we are trying to solve, why they’re important, and examples of interesting research and aspects of the AI ecosystem that need further investment and participation beyond the tech community.

This in-person event will take place on April 13th at 3PM in Bell Hall and will be open to Harvard Kennedy School faculty, students, fellows, and staff. Registration is required. Refreshments will be served.
