The main goal of this conference is to create a platform for international and national experts to highlight and share local and global experiences on the Nile Basin and watershed management, water sharing, climate change, adaptation, mitigation, water management, flood control, drought management, and the importance of The Sudd wetlands in South Sudan. In a changing climate, water, food, and energy demands are increasing with growing population. Presentations on extreme climate events as the 2022 global droughts and floods and climate teleconnections will be solicited. There is an urgent need for immediate action to address these challenges to continue on a path of transboundary water sharing and preserving the watersheds. Main thematic areas covered will include the Nile Basin, climate change mitigation, adaptation and sustainability, importance of wetlands, The Sudd swamp, droughts and floods, role of women in environmental protection, transboundary water and watershed management. International experiences on wetland management and environmental restoration will be covered. The role of women in climate change adaptation is a thematic area of the conference and the participation of women is encouraged. Additionally, sessions will be organized on the Nile River and the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam. Proceedings of the conference will be published from presented papers. Speakers from academia, government, international and national organizations working on the above topics and related fields will be participating.
