Professional Education

 

Professional Education is one of the primary objectives of the SRH in order to cultivate future U.S. and Latin American national security workforces.

 

The SRH is proud to announce that several courses and certificate programs will be offered throughout 2021. The courses will take place online and primarily cover issues in cyber security in the world today

 

The SRH is also happy to announce that it will compensating 20 spots for these courses to those who have exemplified why they believe these courses will benefit them and the organizations they work for. Applicants will have to email a brief 300–400-word document explaining why they should be awarded the spot and what benefit it will bring to their organization to jgiexeced@fiu.edu in order to be considered. Two possible certificates:

 

  • Cybersecurity, Technology, and Policy Professional Certificate (3 courses to obtain certificate)
    1. Required: Cybersecurity and Leadership Strategy

    4. Cyber and Health
    5. Information Landscape and Policy
    6. Social Media Intelligence and Analysis (counts as 2 courses in this track) *

Cost: $395 for each, $900 for three

* $800 cost

 

 

  • Cyberthreat and Forensic Analysis Certificate (2 courses to obtain certificate)

    2. Biometrics and Forensic Analysis
    3. Social Media Intelligence and Analysis

 

Cost: $800 for each or $1,400 for two

 

Global Challenges and Policy Innovation will be a separate certificate for now.

Cybersecurity and Leadership Strategy Course

In this virtual course, jointly organized with the Organization of American States (OAS),

participants will engage with academics, industry leaders, and cybersecurity experts in assessing

the most critical cyber threats facing the public and private sectors in the 21st century.

Participants will be exposed to the best practices about organizational structures, operative

processes, and legal considerations in the prevention and management of cybersecurity.

Participants will learn cybersecurity strategies and the most effective approaches to

implementing them in the workplace.

 

The final day to apply to this course is May 7th, 2021. 

Course dates are May 11, 13, 18, and 20 of 2021.

 

The deadline to apply to this course for the October dates is October 8th, 2021.

The course takes place on October 12, 14, 19, and 21 of 2021.

 

The final day to apply to this course for the May 2022 dates is May 6th, 2022. 

Course dates are May 10, 12, 17, and 19 of 2022.

 

 

 

 

Artificial Intelligence and Governance Course

In this virtual course, participants will have the opportunity to understand how AI is becoming an

important component in the provision of services at all levels of government, with important

implications for policy and decision-makers.

Participants will explore some of the sectors most impacted by AI and learn about the promise

and challenges around government A.I. and what those portend for public and private sector

companies.

 

The final day to apply is March 12, 2021.

The course will take place on March 16, 18, 23, 25, and 30.

 

The final day to apply is for the November dates is October 29th, 2021.

The course will take place on November 2, 4, 9, and 11.

 

The final day to apply to this course for the March 2022 dates is March 11, 2022.

The course will take place on March 15, 17, 22, 24, and 29.

 

 

 

 

Cybersecurity and Health Course– IN SPANISH

Este curso permitirá a los participantes comprender las amenazas cibernéticas en el sector de la

salud, analizar el uso de marcos para construir y evaluar un programa de defensa cibernética, y

formular una estrategia para la defensa contra los ataques cibernéticos.

Orientado a gestores de salud pública, comunidades, investigadores, profesionales médicos y

otros que buscan proteger las redes, la infraestructura y los datos de sus organizaciones y

desarrollar habilidades de crucial importancia en el área de la ciberseguridad.

 

The last day to apply is February 5, 2021.

The course will take place on February 9, 11, 16, 18, 24, 25 and 26.

 

 

Social Media Intelligence and Analysis Course

This course goal is to give participants the opportunity to gather information on a suspect or

target using their Social Media information. These are the same techniques used during the

reconnaissance or OSINT process, but focusing directly on the target’s Social Media presence.

 

The deadline to apply for this course is September 3rd, 2021. 

The course will take place on September 7, 9, 14, 16, and 21.

 

 

Information Landscape and Policy Course

This virtual course offers participants the opportunity to understand how the collection of

information and the use of propaganda is used in the search for a competitive advantage or to

influence policy. Participants will learn about the different strategies and frameworks used to

address these challenges.

 

By attending this course, you will develop an understanding of how influence works, you will be

able to examine and compare different approaches to information and develop the ability to

recommend information solutions to your organization.

 

The deadline to apply is August 6th, 2021

The course will take place on August 10, 12, 17, and 19.

 

 

Cyberthreat Intelligence and Analysis Course

This course is designed for Cybersecurity students, analysts, incident responders, investigators

and other entities throughout public and private organizations. They will be able apply to the

knowledge, skills and competencies achieved during the course immediately within their

organizations and or studies.  The Sectors that may benefit the most are financial, healthcare,

government and law enforcement.

This course covers the basics of Dark Web investigations including what Dark Markets are,

Crypto currency, tools to connect to Tor & 12P, and resources to help you investigate activity over Dark Web networks.

 

The deadline to apply to this course is February 5th, 2021. 

The course will take place on February 9, 11, 16, 18, 24, 25, and 26.

 

The deadline to apply to this course for the December dates is November 26th, 2021. 

The course will take place on December 1, 2, and 3.

 

The deadline to apply to this course for the February 2022 dates is February 5, 2022. 

The course will take place on February 9, 10, and 11.

 

 

 

 

Forensic Analysis and Governance Course

In this virtual course, participants will have the opportunity to understand how biometric and

forensic intelligence has become an important component in safeguarding public safety and

security across government. Participants will explore the foundations, applications, and

disciplines of forensic intelligence as well as the policy, legal, and ethical considerations

surrounding it.

 

The deadline to apply for this course is July 9th, 2021

The course will take place on July 13, 15, 20, 22, and 27.
